Globalization Program, Spring 2015 pre-registration opens

Pre-registration for the Spring 2015 semester opens October 15, 2014. Over 130 students from all over the world will take courses on Italy, Cultures of the World and Global Challenges in the 15-week program.

The specialization track on Environmental Management and Sustainable Development gives students with a background in the Social Sciences the opportunity to acquire skills that will be useful in developing careers in this field. There will also be other excellent opportunities for students interested in history and art in Venice, intercultural exchange, but also globalization, welfare, ethics and human rights. Additional courses will be proposed, based on common principles of research through parallelisms and complementarities, such as Political Freedom in the Modern Tradition. The courses are interdisciplinary and are structured as seminars so as to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience among students from different academic and cultural backgrounds.

Through the Mobility Program the best students will be selected for internship opportunities abroad (eg. MOCA Shanghai, IPEA Brazil, Bilgi University) and in Italy (eg. Peggy Guggenheim Museum, La Biennale, M9 museum, Musei Civici di Venezia, Italian National Research Council). Internships are supported by scholarships. The Spring term also proposes an internship at one of the Chinese member universities of VIU to pursue research for a master’s thesis in themes related to China (Maria Weber Scholarship).

All students registered in degree programs at one of VIU's thirteen Member Universities are eligible to apply for the Globalization Program. Courses are recognized for credit by the students' home universities. All students must pre-register via the VIU website after having submitted their application to the study abroad office of their home universities. Students from Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, Università IUAV di Venezia and Università degli Studi di Padova can pre-register directly.
Registration for courses will open on January 20, 2015.
