Fall 2013 Registration for courses is now open

VIU will offer a particularly stimulating range of courses in the Fall 2013 semester of the Globalization Program. The broad focus of the semester is Cultural Heritage.

Visiting professors are invited to address this topic according to their field of interest and research. Francesc Munoz (UAB) returns this year to teach two courses on Managing Heritage Cities and New Technologies. Bruno Bernardi (CF) will teach a course on management strategies applied to cultural heritage contexts.

These courses are complemented by Victoria Szabo's (Duke) courses on Multimedia Communications and Digital Cities, Caterina Balletti's (Iuav) course on Digital Tools applied to the humanities and Giorgio Gianighian's (Iuav) course on Preservation of World Heritage Sites, which give students insight in to the mechanisms of applying for and the challenges of maintaining UNESCO World Heritage status.

There will also be other excellent opportunities for students interested in history and history of art and architecture, literature and anthropology.  The courses are interdisciplinary, and are structured as seminars so as to facilitate the exchange of knowledge among students from different academic and cultural backgrounds.

Through the Mobility Program the best students will be selected for internship opportunities abroad (eg. MOCA Shanghai, Tel Aviv University, Bilgi University) and in Venice (eg. Peggy Guggenheim Museum, Biennale, M9 museum and Musei Civici di Venezia). Internships are supported by scholarships.

How to Register for VIU courses:

All students registered in degree programs at one of VIU's Member Universities are eligible to apply for the Globalization Program. All students must pre-register via the VIU website after having submitted their application to the study abroad office of their home universities. Students from Università Ca' Foscari Venezia, Università Iuav di Venezia and Università degli Studi di Padova can pre-register directly.

The course registration form is available here.  The log in and password issued after pre-regisration are required to access the form.

The registration system considers preference and date of registration. Students should consult the course timetable before registering as the system is not automated to prevent overlaps.
