Chinese Ministry of Environment Training on Air pollution

In western countries, the quality of the air they breathe is one of the main aspects that influence citizens’ perception of their life quality. In China, severe recent air pollution episodes caused great concern among inhabitants and have induced the Chinese government to tackle the problem with unprecedented determination.

 

To learn from the European experience in regulating airborne pollutant emissions, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China decided to dedicate all three training course in 2014 to Air Pollution Prevention and Control. The first course will be held on May 4-12 in Italy, and will be attended by 26 high officials from the central Ministry and from the provincial departments all around China.

 

The MEP participants will discuss of air pollution facing several aspects: air pollution control at EU and Italian level, air pollution control technologies, air pollution control in industry and sustainable mobility. Senior researchers from the Italian Ministry of the Environment, the National Research Council, and other instiutions working on air pollution monitoring and control as well as sustainable transport, will share their experience at the European and Italian level. In order to concretely discuss those topics and, in particular, industrial pollution and pollution control at local level, a site visit is organized at ARPAV, the local regional environmental protection agency.
