Visualizing Venice Summer Workshop: Deadline March 15

The third edition of the intensive summer workshop on digital visualization technologies will be held at VIU from June 3 to June 13, 2014. The workshop, jointly promoted by Duke University, Università Iuav di Venezia and Venice International University, is open to Master's, Ph.D or Post Doctoral scholars in the Interpretive Humanities.

 

The aim of the workshop is to train scholars in how new technologies can be integrated with the study of historical and material culture. The workshop will focus on a range of visualization tools that can be used in a wide variety of research areas, in particular modeling change over time in urban space and the production of maps and low-cost photogrammetry.

 

As in the previous editions of the workshop, 3D modeling, visualization, and mapping technologies will be taught through a topic relevant to relevant to Venice, providing the opportunities for site visits and on-site data acquisition. In 2014 the focus will be on Venice and its islands. The two previous editions examined Venice's historical cistern network, and the Venetian Ghetto.

 

Deadline for registration: March 15, 2014.

A maxiumum of 16 participants will be admitted.
