Beijing and Shanghai Municipalities Advanced Training on "Pollution Control Strategy and Instruments"

bs poll dec2013

Air and water are crucial aspects in the urban pollution management. Despite many steps have been taken in the two main Chinese municipalities, Beijing and Shanghai, in order to improve its quality, further knowledge exchange about those issues can strengthen the implementation of the already adopted policies. For these reasons, the second and last course of the 2013 Beijing and Shanghai Municipalities Advanced Training Program will be devoted to the theme of "Pollution Control Strategy and Instruments".

A delegation of 41 participants selected by the two Municipal Environmental Protection Bureaus will spend 11 days in Italy discussing in depth the aspects of pollution management and control, visiting Rome, Bologna, Bergamo and Turin from December 1 to December 12.

Many site visits are scheduled for this course: the delegation will visit the laboratories of ISPRA, CNR and ARPAV to see practical examples of instruments and applied strategies in Italian research institutes and regional control agencies. They will also see the examples of air and wastewater management from the perspective of private firms visiting Italcementi and SMAT. In addition to the visits, the subject of pollution control strategies will be deeply discussed during the lectures given by experts from IMELS, Ca Foscari University of Venice, ARPAV, CNR and Ecobioqual.
