Thursday December 19, Fall 2013 Closing Ceremony

The Fall 2013 semester of the Globalization Program closes on Thursday December 19, 2013.

150 students from America, Asia, Europe and Australia have been attending courses taught by distinguished professors from VIU's member universities since September. Following the semester the best students will be able to avail of interesting internship opportunities related to cultural heritage, which was the focus of the semester.

The ceremony will be held at 4.00 pm and the program will be as follows:

- Opening Remarks, Prof. Agar Brugiavini, Dean of Venice International University and Prof. Luca Pes, Director of VIU's School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Awards for Academic Excellence, selected by the Fall 2013 faculty
- Award of Scholarships for internships in Italy in the field of Cultural Heritage
- Award of Scholarships for research internships worldwide in the field of Cultural Heritage

The results of the Fall 2013 photo and video competition will also be announced.
Students can submit their entries for one or more categories:

1 - Venice in Everyday Life: what is really different in Venice, beyond the obvious, compared to other cities in the world? Entries should focus on what living in Venice means and on how inhabitants of Venice cope with the difficult situations that arise everyday (transport, mass tourism, bridges, high tides, etc.). How do you see Venice outside the tourist routes? Is it possible to capture the true soul of Venice in a single frame?

2 - Multicultural Life@VIU: how do the students narrate the experience of studying and living at Venice International University? Entries should focus on the unique multicultural experience of mixing students and professors of different nationalities and cultures and should show the various perspectives of VIU life.

3 - VIU outside VIU: what happens during the co-curricular activities? What about the midterm break in Italy and Europe? Traveling together is a great way to get to know others.

Friends of VIU faculty, students and staff are welcome at the Closing Ceremony.
