Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology Training on Industrial Energy Efficiency

The last training course of 2013 organized in cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has a very specific focus, which reflects the interest and background of this Chinese institution: industrial energy efficiency.

Energy efficiency is often referred to as one of the most important tools to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. The industrial sector plays a heavy role in terms of energy consumption. Even if in the past few years the total energy use has decreased, this was mainly due to the financial crisis that slowed down production; consequently new solutions must be found to tackle this problem in the face of a potential new rise in industrial activity.

The training course aims at presenting all the tools and technologies, both already available and under research, to improve energy management in industries.

During their stay in Italy from November 16 to 28, the participants will be introduced to the main policies developed by the European Union in the field of energy and the economic tools to evaluate the feasibility and development of the different technologies that could be adopted. Site visits are planned to different companies working to improve or help others improve their energy efficiency, and a specific project on industrial areas energy management will be presented too.

Further details can be found in the training course agenda at the Sustainable Development Community website.
