2013 Course for Sustainability – Western Balkans and Turkey_September 29 - October 6, 2013

The 2013 Course for Sustainability is going to take place from September 29 to October 6 and it is titled "Course for Sustainability – Western Balkans and Turkey".


As the previous ones, also this edition of the Course for Sustainability is developed with the support of the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea jointly by the Thematic Environmental Network Center of VIU (TEN), the Regional Environmental Center (REC), Agroinnova - University of Turin and the Bogazici University which that joins the course partnership this year.


The Course involves 30 participants from Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, FRY of Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, Turkey, Palestine, Jordan and United Arab. Although the participants come from different background, they are all engaged in introducing the principles of Sustainability, in its various aspects, into policy making. They are civil servants of local government bodies, experts from different organizations operating at local level as well as representatives of non-governmental organisations.


The Course is designed to prepare local communities to be resilient in the face of crisis. Through discussions on how to improve the endurance, flexibility and adaptive capacity of communities the goal is to promote the implementation of concrete actions to achieve the resilience. In particular, the Course aims at highlighting best practices and sharing concrete case studies, so that practical aspects can be discussed among lecturers, experts and participants. Discussions and workshops are scheduled with the aim of involving the participants in an active way, promoting their future commitment on sustainable development and resilience.
