Richard Nielsen, Professor at the Organization Studies Department, Carroll School of Management, Boston College and teaching Negotiating and Organizational Ethics, Politics and Sustainability at VIU.

 

Aurel Schubert will focus on the development, achievements and challenges of European economic and monetary integration 20 years after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty. A special focus will be on the current financial and economic crisis, especially on the origins, the effects, the policy reactions and the permanent European institutional
changes.

China, India and Globalization

The discussion will focus on a comparison of the economic growth models of China and India, with special attention to social and environmental challenges.

 

Giovanni Balcet is Professor of International Economics and International Business at the University of Turin, Italy. He is an expert in foreign direct investments, multinational enterprise, industrial and trade policies and the local impact of global strategies. On these topics he has published several papers and books, including his recent publication, in collaboration with Vittorio Valli on the comparison between China and India.

 

Vittorio Valli is Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Turin, Italy. He was member of scientific council of CERIS, an institute for research on firms and economic growth in Turin. He has published widely on economic and financial policy, labour economics, economic development, economics of education and comparative economic studies. Recently he has published a book on the comparison between China and India in collaboration with Giovanni Balcet.

 

Ignazio Musu is Professor of Economics and Environmental Economics at Università Ca' Foscari Venezia and President of VIU's TEN Center (Thematic Environmental Networks) which manages the Sino-Italian Advanced Training Program on Environmental Management and Sustainable Development. His main research fields are environmental and resource economics and economic growth theory. On these themes he has published several papers and books, including his recent book on Contemporary China.
