The event will be held in the framework of the project Destination Biennale di Venezia: Universities meet in architecture

 

Jane da Mosto will talk about the connections between processes and conditions in the Venice Lagoon and their effects on the city, past present and future.

 

Jane da Mosto is an Environmental scientist (MA, Oxford University, MSc Imperial College) and international consultant on sustainable development in the broadest sense.

Herman Beck, Tilburg University

Discussant: Barbara De Poli, Professor of Contemporary History of Islamic Countries at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.

 

Herman Beck shall analyze and challenge the statement, frequently put forward in the West, that Islam and modernity are incompatible.

 

Herman Beck from Tilburg University is Professor of Transnational Muslim Movements and Islam and the Making of Europe at Venice International University.
