Biennale Sessions: Lecture and visit at the Russian Pavilion

VIU is a participant of Biennale Sessions, a unique occasion  for Universities and learning Institutions to organize a tour of the exhibition and a related seminar inside the Biennale spaces each year.
Students can participate in Meetings on Art and Meetings on Architecture, a series of seminars and talks given by distinguished artists, curators, philosophers and theologists related to the theme of each edition of the Biennale.

 

On Friday, September 23, 2016 VIU students and professors have the opportunity of a special visit to the 15th International Architecture Exhibition (28 May - 27 November 2016), “REPORTING FROM THE FRONT”, chaired by Paolo Baratta and directed by Alejandro Aravena.

 

On this occasion, Prof. Olga Zinovieva from Lomonosov Moscow State University will hold a seminar on urban changes in the city, as part of VIU program of co-curricular activities.
The lecture entitled “Public spaces, museums and festivals: Urban perspectives” will take place at the Arsenale, one of the most relevant heritage sites in Venice, formerly centre of Venetian marine industry and the heart of Venice naval power.
Prof. Bruno Bernardi, from Ca’ Foscari University and teaching at VIU in this Fall term 2016 a course on “Economics and Management of the Arts”, will be discussant with his class and all students participating.

 

The lecture will be followed by a visit to the exhibition «V.D.N.H. URBAN PHENOMENON» in the Russian Pavilion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice 2016. The visit will be led by the curator of the exhibition, Sergey Kuznetsov, Chief architect of Moscow, first deputy head of Moscow Committee for Architecture and Urban Development.

 

The visit will then continue to the National pavilions inside the Giardini venue of the Biennale exhibition.
