Countdown to the Spring 2017 term: Orientation Week highlights

The Spring 2017 semester of the Globalization Program begins on Monday, 20 February 2017.

 

Over 100 students from Europe, America and Asia will choose among a range of courses on Italy, Cultures of the World, Global Challenges and Environmental Management And Sustainable Development(specialization track of the spring term), taught by distinguished professors from VIU's member universities.

 

The Program, developed in the truly multicultural, international and interdisciplinary VIU environment, provides a powerful learning experience in which students cultivate their capacity for critical thinking and problem solving. They will be thus better prepared to face the present global challenges.

 

The program starts on Monday, February 20 and ends with the exam week on June 2. Academic calendar

 

Orientation week: February 20-24. Not-to-miss moments for students:

  • Monday, Feb 20: Welcome Coffee, VIU Facilities Tour, Introduction to the Globalization Program and Course Presentations
  • Tuesday, Feb 21: meeting on residency permit procedures with Non-EU Students and free visit to Venice city facilities
  • Wednesday, Feb 22: Historical Guided tour of San Servolo Island and “The Best Masked Costume Contest” in San Marco square
  • Thursday, Feb 23: Opening Ceremony and Italian for Foreigners Placement Test
  • Friday, Feb 24: visit to Venice city libraries and to the exhibition “The World of Han Meilin” - registration required
  • Monday 20 to Thursday 23, room 2G: a couple of hours dedicated to Tutoring Desk, a Q&A with the VIU staff on study plans, registration problems, courses, accommodation on/off campus, credit recognition.

Registration for courses will close on Wednesday, February 22 7, 2017 at 5 pm Italian time. Final registration status and admission petitions will follow.
