Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni is Director General of Programmes of the Council of Europe since 2011, following a long and prestigious career in the Organization. In 2001 she is the first woman to be appointed Director General. During her tenure as Coordinator for Intercultural Dialogue the Council of Europe adopts, in 2008, the "White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue", an authoritative document on cultural diversity, democratic citizenship and the integration of minorities in Europe. Since 2006 she is coordinator of the "Speak Out Against Discrimination" campaign which aims to combat discrimination and encourage intercultural dialogue in Europe through the media industry.

The event will be in English and is open to the public.

Maurizio Enrico Serra, Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Italy to UNESCO

 

Maurizio Enrico Serra is Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Italy to UNESCO since 2010. Previously he was Director of the Italian Diplomatic Institute. From 1997 to 2002 he led the coordination of the Italian Presidency of the G8 summit. Earlier in his distinguished diplomatic career he held important positions in the Italian embassies in London, Berlin and Moscow.
